Abrasive Ice Blaster

2020
University of Guelph
Scope
  • Create a concept design for a better alternative to a sandblaster, using ice as an alternative.

  • Ice is less hazardous to the respiratory system, easier cleanup, cheaper, and better for the environment than sand used in the same regards.

  • Several alternative methods were considered for the design involving different methods to create the ice.

  • In conclusion, the final design factored in all of the input requirements, designed an assembly that maximized the theoretical chance of operating effectively, and specified all the output characteristics of the ice compared to a traditional sandblaster.
