Scope

Conceptualizing and designing high-end luggage.

Hand sketching preliminary designs, focusing on designing for functionality, manufacturing costs, and aesthetics.

Researching the travel industry for dimension and weight restrictions globally, to maximize volume and allowable airlines.

Using Solidworks to design the polycarbonate shell and render promotional images before production.

Working with overseas manufacturers to finalize design and source materials for the interior and exterior of the luggage.

Developing iterations of prototypes to solve errors and improve the final product.

Failure analysis using Ansys explicit impact FEA, thermal/structural creep multiphysics FEA, and hand calculations of ABS plastic latches.

Material science of PP, ABS, PC, nylon, aluminum, steel, and TPR hardware. Examining the effects of extreme cold temperatures on material properties.

Reverse-engineering parts to identify failure points, improve structural properties, and examine DFM and DFA.
